Biology: Large solitary bees that bore round holes to tunnel galleries in wood.

Life cycle: Overwinter as adults; nest and lay eggs in spring; usually one generation per year.

Behavior: Males hover and guard; females can sting if handled; prefer eaves fascia and decks.

Size: Adults 19-25 mm
