Biology: Glossy black female with red hourglass on abdomen underside.

Life cycle: Egg sac 200-400 eggs; spiderlings disperse by ballooning.

Behavior: Webs in woodpiles and sheds; shy but medically significant bite.

Size: Females 8-13 mm body
